Homeschooling a Child with Autism + Gift Card Giveaway!
As you may or may not know, I am parent of a child with autism. Our oldest son has high-functioning autism (Asperger’s) and ADHD, and yes, we DO have the shirt you see above literally in our house. 🙂 I know there’s lots of Homeschool Parents out there, and also Parents of Kiddos with Autism. I want to share a letter and an amazing giveaway with you. I’ve done something like this before in the past, and it’s something we all need to hear again!
It’s something I wrote for all the Homeschool Moms (and Dads) of Kids with Autism out there… and if you are a parent of a kiddo with autism, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to contact me via email or leave a comment below. I’d love to hear from you!
Dear Homeschool Mom (or Dad) of a Child with Autism,
First and foremost, I want you to know that you are doing a GREAT JOB. Has anyone ever told you that before? I want you to never forget this — you are doing a great job. You are an awesome parent.
However, I know you are tired. I know there are many tears, much pain, and many struggles. I know, because I live the autism life too. I feel the fear, the worry, and the looks of other parents who do not know the daily struggles. I know the loneliness you sometimes feel even when you are surrounded by people, and the constant worry for your child’s future and your child’s dreams. Will your child ever have a job? Will they live at home with you? What happens to them after you’re gone? I know the many worries you have!
You’ve made the decision to homeschool your unique child who is a gift from God… a child with many special gifts, and you should be proud of your decision. You are going the extra mile for your child, and remember – you are doing a great job. Please don’t worry about what others think of you. You are doing what you believe is best for your child, and you are awesome. I am so proud of you.
Take each day one day at a time. Pray, pray, and pray some more.
Mom (or Dad) of a Child with Autism — You are doing your best, and yes, that is enough. You are a great parent, and I want you to never forget that!
Much love to you all, from a mom who lives the autism life daily.
Love,
Jaime @ Coupons and Freebies Mom
P.P.S. It’s Back to (Home) School time!
Even though it feels like summer just started, a new homeschool year will be upon us in no time! Have you started planning and prepping yet? Preparing for a new homeschool year is an exciting time, but it can also create feelings of overwhelm and stress! What curriculum should we use next year? What supplies do we need? And how are we going to pay for it all?
Many homeschoolers live on one income and have to stick to a strict budget that doesn’t always allow for much wiggle room. That’s why I’ve teamed up with a group of amazing homeschool bloggers to make getting ready for your new school year just a little bit easier and hopefully a little less stressful for you. Our hope is that we can bless a few homeschool families (although we wish we could bless many more) and ease a little of that financial burden and help you check some extra things off your homeschool wish list this year.
Three people will win a $250 gift card to either Rainbow Resource Center or Christianbook.com – two great places to shop for homeschool curriculum and resources, with the best prices around!!
To enter for your chance to win, simply use the Rafflecopter form below to enter. Now I know this is quite a few entries, but each of these bloggers has generously chipped in their own money to make this giveaway possible, so I hope you will take the time to do all of the entries. And hey, the more entries you do, the better your odds are of winning!
Giveaway ends July 21, 2023 at 11:59pm ET. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a resident of U.S. or Canada to enter. Selected winners will have 48 hours to respond to email notification to claim their prizes or another winner will be drawn. By entering this giveaway, you agree to be added to the email lists of the participating bloggers (see the Terms & Conditions on the Rafflecopter form).
